What is Whole Systems Management?

Traditional approaches to management often entail working on solutions that are specific to isolated units of the organization, sometimes referred to as silo-management. In contrast, the Whole Systems Management approach takes the entire organization into account when investigating, designing and implementing strategic initiatives and solutions.

At Environmental Intelligence, Inc. we are careful to calibrate the potential for system-level effects of organizational change initiatives. We use our unique ISIS: Intelligent Systems-Intelligent Services™ whole systems methodologies in taking a cross-functional approach to organization-wide assessment.

The language of whole systems management is markedly different from traditional management. As you will see in the next pages that define Intelligent Systems and Intelligent Services, often that difference is evident in the use of metaphors and references to medicine and biology.
